Oakland: Una Rae Kinney-Isbister died on June 7, 2024, in Bartow, Florida, of an acute illness. Rae, as she was often called, and Harry, her beloved husband, were snowbirds in Bartow for a dozen years.
Una Rae was born in Caribou, ME, on April 5,1940, daughter of Edward Kinney and Mary (McGinn) Kinney. Rae earned her bachelor's degree from Thomas College, then attended University of Maine at Orono where she studied mental health and substance abuse. She worked at MaineGeneral Community Care for 30+ years as an LADC (Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor).
Harry and Rae called Oakland, ME their primary home, and lived in the house Harry's family lived in when he was born.
Rae loved her friends and family unconditionally; she always saw the good in others. She enjoyed shopping, going to the gym, entertaining, ballroom dancing, rug hooking and other fiber arts, and making jewelry.
Rae was predeceased by her parents, Edward Kinney and Mary (McGinn) Kinney; her husband, Harry Isbister; her 5 siblings, Joseph Kinney, Wanda Nickerson, Sondra Gustafson, Gregory Kinney, Gerald Kinney; son, Robert Howard.
She is survived by her son, Daniel (Lynley) Howard; grandson, Brandon (Kaylie) Howard; nephew Frederick (Denise) Nickerson; great grandsons Luke and Cole Howard; great nephews Corey, Michael, and Noah; various other nieces and nephews and in-laws.
Rae's memorial service was previously held on August 16, 2024; the committal and interment of ashes for both Harry and Rae will be part of the graveside service for Harry J. Isbister at Lakeview Cemetery, Saturday, September 21, 11am.
Services are under the care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Church Street, Oakland, Maine.
