OAKLAND- Mr. Roger A. Campbell, Sr., 76, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 23, 2021. He is the loving husband of Evelyn L. (Quimby) Campbell with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Roger was born February 5, 1945 in Waterville, son of the late Maurice and Ella (Powell) Campbell.
Roger worked for the Town of Winslow, Woodsman for many years until his retirement. He previously worked for the Town of Oakland and also the Cascade Woolen Mill.
Roger treasured the time he spent with his family. He also enjoyed going to the casino, dancing, playing pool, throwing darts and was a longtime member of the Elks in Waterville. He enjoyed taking care of people he always was there to lend a helping hand he would pick up good used tires and give them away to anyone who needed a tire.
In addition to Evelyn who was the love of Rogers life, he is survived by his son Roger A. Campbell, Jr. and his fiancé Michelle Scott of Augusta, his four daughters Susan E. Webb and her husband Joe of Oakland, Tammy J. Davis and her husband Al of Jay, Vickie L. Campbell and her fiancé Matt Myers of Mt. Vernon and Kim M. McDaniel and her husband Jerry of Oakland. His sister Arlene Grant of Fairfield. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and Gary Campbell.
In addition to his parents, Roger is predeceased by his daughter Tracy Ann Campbell, his brothers Raymond, Vernal, Merle and Clarence Campbell, his sisters Dorothy Campbell, Eunice Gordon, Betty Anderson and Grace Reed.
Roger's graveside service will be Thursday, July 29, 2021at 1:00 PM in the Lewis Cemetery, Cottle Road Oakland. Following graveside services there will be a celebration of life at Susan and Joe's home 30 Stoneybrook Drive Oakland. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
