Obituary

Robert Charles Hamlin.

1964 - 2026

Robert Charles Hamlin, 62, of Sidney, died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, October 26, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 18,1964, in Augusta Maine, to the late Charles D. Hamlin and Estelle O. Hamill, (Conary). He passed on his mother’s birthday.

His life consisted of working with his hands, and he had a sharp mind for choosing meals and recipes, as a lifelong cook. He could craft a meal out of whatever was in the pantry. Robert loved the Lord and died praising His name before his death. He loved his family and all 9 children, from his blended family. He sacrificed for his family every day. He married the love of his life Mary on May 30, 1992. He was known in the community as a selfless, kind, generous person and lived his life on his terms. Always putting others first. Robert was an empowering man.

Robert’s last employment, out of the 40 years, was as a cook, at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Augusta. He also worked at Steve’s Restaurant for over 30 years and Northern Mattress as a warehouse worker for a few years and as a janitor at Erskine Academy for a few years. Whatever Robert did, he took pride in his work. He retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken due to an injury on August 6, 2023. He was known for his steadfast punctuality, his many talents, and his ability to make lifelong friends. Robert was known mostly as Papa over the last 20 years, and Papa Smurf to his four younger children.

Robert was predeceased by his father Charles D. Hamlin and Estelle Hamill.

He is survived by his sister Deborah Hamlin of Farmingdale; his daughters, Elektra Hamlin and significant other Ryan Ryerson; and Generosa Hamlin with her son; his name sake, Robert-Giovanni; Stephanie A Price and husband Manuel Price; Angela A Givens and husband TJ Givens; his sons Timmothy M Goodwin and significant other Ashley Corson; Gabriel Hamlin; Zachariah Hamlin and wife Kelsey Hamlin; Jacob Hamlin and wife Riley Avery; and Ezekiel Goodwin. He had 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren with another one on the way.

A celebration of life will be held on November 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., at Kingdom Life Church, 191 High Street, Oakland, Maine, with Pastor Al Sesin where Robert was a member. A reception will follow downstairs for a brief time. Memories and condolences may be shared on his page at Veilleux-Redington-Lawry Brothers Funeral Home at: vrlfuneralhome.com.
