Oakland, ME – Mona Terrie (Atwood) Roy passed away peacefully at home after a series of health issues with family by her side. Mona was born in Bingham, Maine to Jessie and Clarence Atwood on October 18th, 1943.
Mona graduated from Bingham High School in 1961 and worked at the Allen Quimby Veneer Mill in Bingham for a few years. She married Robert Roy Sr. on July 4th 1964 and the couple had two children, Robert "Rob" Roy Jr., born June 9th 1965 and Nicole (Roy) Dexter, born June 9th 1970. Mona and Robert lived in Connecticut where her children were born and she spent her time as a housewife. The family eventually moved back to Maine, where they lived on Messalonskee Lake for nearly 50 years.
Mona is survived by her husband of 64 years; her son Robert Roy Jr. (Laurie) and daughter Nicole Dexter; her brothers Colby Atwood (Kathy) and Jeffery Attwood (Johni Ann); grandchildren Dakota Roy, Molly Roy, Christopher Knowles (Tabitha), Zackery Dexter (Lauren), Colby Dexter (Ashley) and Kristen Dexter (Ethan); great grandchildren Zaydin Knowles, Owen Dexter, Declan Dexter, Myles Matthews, and Chloe Matthews; as well as many friends, family, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents and her brothers Kenneth and Clarence (Stubs) Atwood.
There will be no services per Mona's wishes. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
