Obituary

Belgrade Lakes: On September 9, 2024, Janice went to rest with her guardian and Savior following years of evolving dementia and a very active two-year positive living experience at MaineGeneral Hospital's Glenridge (Augusta, ME) dementia care center Gardens neighborhood. Janice was born May 11, 1939, in Worcester, MA to Susan Exire (Cadarette) and Harry Charles Porter. Janice married Richard C. Bourne of Sterling, MA on January 31, 1959, at Chestnut Street Congregational Church in Worcester. After a brief residence in Worcester, the couple moved to Greece, NY and then to Spencerport, NY, where they lovingly raised children Philip, Elaine Marie, and Kenneth before settling in Richard's family home in Belgrade Lakes, ME. While in New York Janice was active in Girl Scouts and was a library assistant in the Spencerport schools. In Maine she was very active in the KVM Club community service group in Belgrade, the Belgrade-Rome Food Pantry, the Belgrade Library, and volunteered several years at Northern Lights Hospital's Lakewood Manor center in Waterville. She was predeceased by her father, mother, sister Bertha A. Andrews (Paul), and daughter Elaine Marie (fiancé Kenneth Darby). Janice is survived by her husband Richard of Belgrade Lakes, ME, sons Kenneth (Didier) of Rome, ME, Philip (Tracey and partner Leeann), grandsons Matthew (Claire) and children Jack and Samantha, Adam (Andrea) and children Austin and Wyatt, and Bradley (Katrina) and son Blake all of Spencerport, NY. A private family service is planned for early July 2025 at Belgrade's Pine Grove Cemetery. Contributions in Janice's name, may be made to the Belgrade-Rome Special Needs Food Pantry, PO Box 238, Belgrade, Maine 04917, the Friends of the Belgrade Public Library, PO Box 474, Belgrade, Maine 04917, MaineGeneral Hospital Glenridge activities fund (40 Glenridge Drive, Augusta, ME 04330) or to a charity of the contributor's choice are welcome. Services are in the care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Oakland, Maine.
