Obituary

Howard Paul Holinger, 78 of Belgrade, ME, passed away at Maine General Hospital on Monday March 17th. A long-time educator in both Lewiston and Auburn, he graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Master of Science in Printing Technology in 1971. He lived with his family in Lewiston for many years, teaching first at Edward Little High School and then the Lewiston Regional Technical Center. He moved to Belgrade in 2000. After retiring from teaching in 2014, he focused on his passions for family, travel, and local politics. He served on the local budget committee and helped with elections. He and his wife, Susan, have spent the last 3 years traveling the United States in their 43' coach. He is survived by his wife Susan Bodnar Holinger of Belgrade, and their 3 sons Christoper Holinger (Virgina Beach, VA), Eric Holinger (Longmont, CO) and David Holinger (Belgrade, ME), as well as his 2 sisters, Alice Holinger (Wasilla, AK) and Barbara Hall (Cumberland, ME). He was kept very busy by 9 grandchildren: Catherine (Holinger) Oliveira, Jacob Holinger, Logan Holinger, Megan Holinger, Piper Holinger, Wyatt Holinger, Cassidy Holinger, Evelyn Holinger, Eleanor Holinger, and 1 great grandchild Daniel Oliviera. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hope Baptist Church in Manchester, Maine at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, with a reception to follow.
