Obituary

AOakland: Harry Joseph Isbister died peacefully on September 6, 2024, his 78th birthday, while an inpatient at Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, some would say of a broken heart. His wife and love of his life, Una Rae Kinney-Isbister passed away 3 months ago on June 7, 2024. Harry was born in Waterville, ME, on September 6, 1946,9/06/1946, the son of Frank Isbister and Elsie (Dawe). He was a graduate of Williams High School, class of '65. He went on to graduate from Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute from the Industrial Electrical Course. He was as SP5 in the Army during the Viet Nam era. After the service Harry worked at the Central Maine Power Company in Sub Stations and Hydro Generation for 30 years. He worked for FPL Energy for 4 years, took an early retirement, and went back to college for a year and a half. He then took a job as a Dam Keeper, or hydro generation specialist, on the Messalonskee Stream for Synergics Energy Services, later known as Essex Hydro Services. Harry enjoyed being outdoors; he also enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, gardening, ballroom dancing, cribbage and he loved dogs. Harry and Una Rae were longtime friends of Bill W. Those closest to Harry will forever remember him for his "Yes, dear," as a frequent response to requests from his beloved wife. He also wanted to acknowledge two very special longtime friends, Terry Badger of Turner, and Lee Breard of Oakland. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Elsie; his beloved wife, Una Rae; stepson, Robert Howard; his oldest brother, William (Shirley) Isbister; various aunts & uncles. Harry is survived by stepson, Daniel (Lynley) Howard; grandson, Brandon (Kaylie) Howard; brother, Roger (Jean M. Neal) Isbister; great grandsons, Luke and Cole Howard; various nieces and nephews, cousins, and surviving Isbisters. There will be a graveside service for Harry on Saturday, September 21, 11am, at Lakeview Cemetery. There will be an Honor Guard commemorating Harry's Army service. Also, there will be a committal and interment of the ashes for both Harry and Rae, together. Services are under the care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Church Street, Oakland, Maine.
