Bangor- It is with sadness and peaceful hearts, the children of Greta L. Hanson of Oakland, announce her passing from this world due to Alzheimer's Disease at 94 years old and onto her greatest journey on November 17, 2022.
Greta Was born August 16, 1928, in Boston, MA the adopted daughter of Arno and Eva (Cote) Scott of Vanceboro, Maine. She met and married her husband, Orville (Jake) Hanson in Vanceboro and together they brought 5 children into this world: Joanne, Stacy, Gail, Raymond, and Vickie.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Stacy (Bill) Monk of Vanceboro, Gail McIver of Mt Dora, FL, and Vickie (Jeff) Massey of Oakland; son, Raymond (Teresa) of Vanceboro; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Embracing her as she begins her journey will be her parents, husband, first born daughter, Baby Joanne, and grandchildren Kimberly Pinnette and Jeffrey Monk.
A private, family memorial will be held at a later date as Greta's remains will be combined with those of her husband and granddaughter Kimberly and released into the winds on the St. Croix River near the camp built by her husband back in the 1950's.
May mom find peace knowing her greatest journey is just beginning. As quoted by Chief Seattle, American Native Indian Suquamish and Duwamish Chief, "There is no death only a change in worlds". Embrace your journey, Mom, and may you find eternal love and peace within this new world.
