Faye Eileen (Knox) Kitchin
Faye Kitchin, 80, passed away June 6th, 2023 following a brief illness, with her family by her side.
She was born in Oakland on August 11, 1942, the daughter of Melville and Pauline (Mulliken) Knox. She graduated from Williams High School in 1961 and began working at Harris Baking Company.
Faye was employed for many years at Maingas and then at Levines until they closed. She retired from the State of Maine in 2006.
While working at Harris Baking Company, she met her husband, Leroy Kitchin. They were married on September 4th, 1965 and celebrated 42 years together before he passed away in 2007.
She is survived by her two sisters, Peggy Gosslin of Clermont, Florida and Cindy Mosher of Rome; her three children, Linda (Kitchin) Taylor and her husband Jeff of Oakland, Randy Kitchin of Waterville, and Nancy Kitchin and partner Angel Pelletier of Readfield; her eight grandchildren, Eric Taylor and wife Margo of Vassalboro, Nathan Taylor and wife Asia of Dresden, Raymond Buker of Winslow, Jeffery Buker of Fairfield, Tanesha Kitchin of Waterville, Benjamin Kitchin of Waterville and Jace Pelletier of Readfield; her two great grandchildren Parker and Ryanne Taylor of Vassalboro; and many, many, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Gerald Knox of Sidney, her sister Sandra Reyes of Lodi, California, her sister Bonnie Bourgoin of Winslow, an infant sister Gloria of Oakland and her grandson Ryan Allen Taylor of Oakland.
Faye loved life unwaveringly, loved her friends easily and loved her family deeply and unconditionally. She enjoyed many years of retirement, feeding and watching the birds, taking care of her plants, puzzling, playing cards, sitting in the sun on the deck or by the pool and she never missed a pick 'n' pull. She loved spending time with family, traveling and watching any of her family members play sports.
At Faye's request, there will not be a service but a celebration of life. Faye was planning a big party for August, so we will take that opportunity to celebrate her then. Stay tuned for more information and details in the coming weeks.
