Obituary

OAKLAND- DAVID BUCKNAM Sr., 74, of Maine, passed away peacefully at his home in Oakland. Born in Waterville, Maine on March 19, 1952, David was the son of John and Gladys (Eastman) Bucknam. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work, a lesson that shaped the man he became and carried through every part of his life.

For more than 50 years, David worked as a local contractor and skilled carpenter. His craftsmanship, dedication, and integrity were evident in every project he touched. He took pride in his work and built a reputation for reliability within his community.

David had a love for the outdoors, especially snowmobiling, which brought him joy and connection to the Maine landscape he cherished. But above all else, David was a family man. He devoted himself to raising his three children on his own, a task he embraced with strength, patience, and unwavering love. His children were his greatest accomplishment, and he never hesitated to express how proud he was of the people they became.

He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers and sisters. David is survived by his brother, Robert, his three children, six grandchildren, and a great grandchild, all of whom will miss his steady presence, his humor, and his generous spirit.

David’s legacy lives on in his family, the homes he built, and the countless memories shared with those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

Visiting Hours will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home located at 26 Church Street in Oakland, Thursday, June 25th from 6pm-8pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26th at 6pm at the Oakland Masonic Hall located at 21 Oak Street.
