BELGRADE- Christine L. Bickford, 84, passed away on July 14th, 2026, at Oak Grove Nursing Home with family by her side after a long illness.
Christine was born on August 30th, 1941, a daughter of Merle and Mertle Willey Clement. She grew up in Rome, ME and attended Messalonskee High School.
Following school, she worked for her dad assisting him with his book work, and she worked for the Augusta School District for 25 years which is where she retired as a cook/baker. She made many long-lasting friendships during her time there; she was always someone you could count on.
Christine loved putting puzzles together and playing solitaire on her cell phone. She enjoyed going to local fairs to watch the horse pulls, and loved family gatherings, enjoyed sitting outside om the swing and watching traffic go by. And her soap operas
She was predeceased by her husband Larry Bickford and parents Merle and Mertle Clement. Her baby girl daughter at birth, her siblings, Robert Clement and sister Lorraine Clement and 2 grandchildren Matia Hollingsworth and Jesse Tillson.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Redlevske, her son Oscar and wife Sue Redlevske, and her son Kevin and his wife Nellie Bickford. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Philip Clement, Wayne and his wife Tina Clement, Lois and her husband Roger Davis, Shelia and her husband Jimmy Tibbetts, Wendy Clement and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Oak Grove for the care of Christine along with her hospice team.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday July 30th, at 11am at Lewis Cemetery on Cottle Road in Oakland. Per Christine’s wishes, a viewing will be held for her children. Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service however there will be no reception or gathering following the services.
